Atlas, the iconic Boston Dynamics robot… Designed for a competition held by the Ministry of Defense in 2013 and introduced in front of our eyes, this iconic robot has grown, evolved and now has been replaced by its new version. Its life started with cables and continued with remote controls. Atlas has constantly evolved. From its crawling to its first steps, from its jumps to its somersaults, this veteran robot, which gradually developed in front of our eyes, has now finally retired.

Created by Boston Dynamics and sharing its development with us moment by moment, the company introduced us the new version of Atlas. The new Atlas has a fully electric structure instead of hydraulic systems. The new Atlas has a stronger and more flexible structure than its previous versions. Being electric is also a big step in terms of energy efficiency.

Boston Dynamics New Robot Atlas 2.0

Leaving behind that primitive and cumbersome perception with both its appearance and capabilities, Atlas 2.0 proves to us where robot technology has come in just 11 years. Boston Dynamics new robot has undergone a complete transformation.

This robot is quite human-like with its appearance as well as its abilities. Its movements, attitudes and abilities give us exactly that robot perception in the movies.

It meets the robot image in the movies much more than the old Atlas, Tesla Optimus and Figure 01, but the most striking part of the new version of Atlas is its movements. Its abilities, reminiscent of the movements in horror movies, make those who have a fear of robots and those who do not, uneasy.

Boston Dynamics’ New Electric Atlas Robot

Robert Playter, CEO of Boston Dynamics, said in a statement about the features of the new Atlas, “We have provided a wide range of motion by using specially designed powerful and flexible actuators in most joints. This will allow the robot to be used more efficiently in industrial environments. We don’t need to compare robots too much to humans. Because the human body is not perfect. The human body has limits and inadequacies. When developing robots, we need to focus on what the human body cannot do.”

This is precisely why one of the company’s new goals is to enable Atlas to be used in industrial areas. This process will begin with tests at Hyundai facilities, and will expand to a wider market in the coming years. Boston Dynamics’ new Atlas has the potential to be used not only in the industrial field, but also in medicine, logistics and many other sectors. It offers a solution that can support the human workforce to increase productivity and take on risky tasks. Boston Dynamics’ new electric Atlas robot is a solution for the industrial needs of the future. With its powerful performance, flexible structure and usability in a variety of industries, it represents a step forward in robotics.
