At its recent We Robot event, Tesla went beyond the automotive world and introduced a groundbreaking innovation in the field of robotics, the “humanoid robot Optimus”. In addition to autonomous vehicles such as Cybercab and Robovan, the company led by Elon Musk also showcased Optimus, which is expected to be an indispensable part of our daily lives in the future.More than one Optimus model appeared at the event. The robots circulated among the audience and engaged in simple interactions such as dancing, playing rock-paper-scissors and distributing small gifts. These demonstrations indicate that Optimus is still in its early stages of development, but could be capable of much more complex tasks in the future.Tesla also released a video showing Optimus’ potential uses. In the video, the robot cleans the house, plays with children, serves food and carries shopping packages. Musk stated that the robot could take on various tasks in the future, such as dog walking, childcare, lawn mowing and even playing the piano.

Optimus’ production plans are also quite ambitious. Musk announced that the robot will start performing useful tasks by the end of 2024 and will be available for sale at the end of next year. In the long run, the robot’s price is expected to be in the range of 20,000 – 30,000 dollars. This price range shows that Optimus is not just a luxury technology, but a solution accessible to the masses.

Tesla plans to start small-scale production for internal use next year, and large-scale production in 2026 to produce robots for other companies. Musk emphasizes the importance of the project by saying, “I think Optimus will be more valuable than everything else combined.”

However, there are also some question marks about Optimus’ current capabilities. The skills demonstrated by the robots at the event were limited and mostly confined to simple hand waving gestures. Still, given Tesla’s technological breakthroughs in the past, Optimus is predicted to evolve rapidly.

Musk argues that Optimus will not only revolutionize technology, but also economics and society. According to him, these robots will double social productivity and enable a future without poverty. Optimus, which is planned to be produced in millions, could radically change our daily lives.

Tesla’s Optimus project has the potential to shape the future of robotics. The integration of humanoid robots into our daily lives could affect many areas, from the labor market to home life. But exactly how and when this technology will enter our lives will depend on developments in the coming years.
