Google has temporarily suspended its artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot Gemini’s ability to render images of people after inaccurate depictions of historical characters surfaced. The decision was made to improve Gemini’s ability to render human images for historical accuracy. In a statement, Google said, “We’re working to address recent issues with Gemini’s image rendering. In the meantime, we will suspend this feature and release an improved version very soon.”

Reacting Images from Gemini

Google took note of users’ reactions after Gemini was accused of racism against whites. In particular, the emergence of incongruous images of historical figures caused a great outcry on social media. In response to these reactions, Google apologized. And acknowledged that the AI had missed the mark in its depictions of historical image-making. The company emphasized that Gemini is an AI that makes broad use of the human spectrum .And that many people around the world benefit from this feature. However, it stated that they are working to immediately correct the errors in historical accuracy.

The temporary suspension of Gemini’s ability to create human images has once again highlighted the need to continuously improve artificial intelligence technologies in terms of social sensitivity and accuracy. Google stated that this decision points to the need for more careful training and use of artificial intelligence.

Gemini Creates Historically Inaccurate Images

On the other hand, some of Google’s previous problems with artificial intelligence technologies have also come to the fore. In particular, the AI image classification tool that mistakenly classified.
