Apple’s highly anticipated World Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 was full of innovations and surprises. This year’s event won the appreciation of users, especially focusing on artificial intelligence and customization. Here are the main innovations and features introduced at WWDC 2024.

iOS 18 Features

Personalization and privacy are definitely at the forefront of iOS 18 features. Apple  is completely revamping the user experience with iOS 18. Users can now place app icons and widgets anywhere on the home screen to create a more personalized experience. Also, dark theme and color-based coloring options are offered for app icons. With iOS 18, users can lock apps to prevent others from accessing them and add a layer of security that requires authentication. It is also possible to hide information in Siri and other apps. In addition, iOS 18 introduces Google’s RCS messaging support, bringing the next-generation version of SMS to users.

macOS Sequoia: Powerful performance and improved gaming experience. macOS Sequoia brings many innovations for Mac users. With iPhone Mirroring, you can control your iPhone from Mac and mirror its screen. Plus, the new Passwords app lets you manage everything from Wi-Fi passwords to app passwords. These passwords can be synced across devices and auto-fill for ease of use. macOS Sequoia significantly improves gaming performance on devices with M1 and M2 chips and optimizes the gaming experience with higher graphics performance.

watchOS 11: Unlocking a new era of health tracking. watchOS 11 further enhances health tracking capabilities for Apple Watch users. Blood pressure data management is refined, and new Apple Watches can detect hypertension. A new app called Vitals will allow you to track important health metrics and alert you when those metrics are outside the normal range.

visionOS 2: User-friendly guest mode. visionOS 2, introduced for Apple Vision Pro, stands out with its guest mode. This mode makes it easy to lend the device to others or use it for trial purposes. The Journal app, introduced with iOS 17.2, also comes to Apple Vision Pro with visionOS 2, making it easy to record your notes, thoughts and memories.

tvOS 18: AI-powered Siri. tvOS 18 brings AI-powered search capabilities to Siri. Users will now be able to perform more detailed and free searches. For example, specific searches such as “1970s sci-fi movies” will be possible.

Apple Intelligence: ushering in a new era of data security. Apple Intelligence protects privacy by processing user data on the device. It is equipped with deep natural language understanding and advanced artificial intelligence capabilities. Data security is enhanced by giving users full control over their data and not sharing it with third parties.

Siri with ChatGPT-4o Support: Apple has taken a big step by integrating Siri with ChatGPT-4o. With this integration, Siri will be able to direct users’ questions to ChatGPT and generate answers.

iPadOS 18: Advanced customization and new apps. iPadOS 18 was introduced along with iOS 18. This version will be available in beta for developers and will be ready for all users in the fall. iPadOS 18 brings many new features, including a customizable home screen, control center, and in-app animations.

Apple Pencil: Handwriting updates and new AI features for Apple Pencil. especially ideal for the M4 iPad Pro. The long-awaited Calculator app is finally coming with iPadOS 18.

Home Screen and Control Center Customizations: iPad users will be able to customize home screen icons and layouts with more flexibility. Control Center is being updated with new features such as enabling third-party controls and adjusting the size of existing controls.

What’s New in Messages, Mail, and Maps: iOS 18 and iPadOS 18 introduce new features for satellite messaging and iMessage. RCS messaging support and the ability to add new effects to texts. The Mail app is updated with the ability to categorize emails on the device. The Maps app is enhanced with topographic maps and Collections, which lets you browse photos by time, people, and other factors.
