Some time ago, sales of some Apple Watch models in the US experienced a temporary pause in online and physical stores. Apple was in the process of appealing the ban on Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Series 9 models in the US.

However, in the current situation, the ban on Apple Watch sales has been temporarily halted by a federal appeals court. As a result, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and Series 9 are now available again in Apple Stores and on Apple.com.Apple had requested at least a stay of the ban until US Customs could determine whether the changes made to the Apple Watch were sufficient to overturn the ban that led to the patent dispute. Following this request, the court ordered a stay of the import and sales bans. Customs will announce its decision on January 12. In the meantime, Apple is allowed to continue selling the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2.Apple Watch
The main reason for the ban was a patent dispute with another company. The US International Trade Commission (ITC) imposed the ban as a result of a lawsuit filed in 2021 by a medical technology company called Masimo, alleging that the Apple Watch infringed five patents related to light-based blood oxygen monitoring. The ITC upheld the decision that the Apple Watch infringed Masimo’s patents. However, the sales ban did not cover older models that did not have this feature.
