The advancement of technology leads to great developments in the field of wearable technology. Many wearable technology studies are done for visual purposes and therefore reach much smaller audiences. But when it comes to useful works in this field, these works are highly appreciated. (See our wearable airbag news.) Here is a new one among these functional products, The Moonwalker. The Moonwalker is the world’s first robotic shoes that increase your walking speed and allow you to walk at a jogging pace. Equipped with an adaptive AI-powered power transmission system, these shoes make your walking experience more fun and efficient.

AI Powered Wearable Technology The Moonwalker

The Moonwalker is actually a relatively old initiative. Because this product, which was released under the Shift Robotics brand, was recognized as a work of Carnegie Mellon University by seeking funding on Kickstarter. The design, which attracted a lot of attention and symbolized Carnegie Mellon innovation, was named one of the Best Inventions of 2023 by Time magazine.

The Moonwalker is designed and tested to the highest engineering standards. Each shoe is equipped with a high-performance neodymium magnet-based motor and automotive-grade gearbox. This powerful combination provides an incredibly efficient power transmission system. The shoes are powered by special artificial intelligence control modules that analyze your every step and react instantly. These modules communicate gait and force data hundreds of times per second, providing intuitive control. ZEISS’ state-of-the-art coordinate measuring machine (CMM) and DMG 5-axis horizontal machining center for the production of Moonwalkers offer exceptional precision and quality control. Each gearbox processes data with the highest accuracy.

The company’s goal is to provide a low-cost, maintenance-free and easy-to-move solution for urban short-distance transportation. The company wants to enable everyone to walk at running speed.

Design that Walks Like Running

Moonwalkers can double your normal walking speed. While most people walk at 4-5 km/h, Moonwalkers can increase this speed up to 7 km/h. These shoes not only increase your speed, but also keep the energy you spend while walking to a minimum. This allows you to reach your destination quickly without getting sweaty and tired.

These innovative shoes automatically adjust themselves by sensing your walking speed and rhythm. The wheels lock when climbing stairs. This ensures safe walking. Also, the anti-lock braking system makes sudden stops safer.

Moonwalker is designed as a single model for every shoe size. Fitting sizes 7.5-13 US Men’s and 9-13.5 US Women’s, the shoes support a maximum user weight of 100 kg. For heavier users, there is a warning that there may be a slight drop in performance. However, in general use, these shoes are described as highly effective and comfortable. The product is eye-catching and functional. Add excitement to your hiking routine with Moonwalker and feel the power of technology in every step. You may soon be able to experience this unique experience with a test walk!
