Volkswagen has taken a creative step for the US launch of the ID.Buzz, an all-electric version of its iconic Microbus model. The renowned automaker is giving drivers the opportunity to customize this new electric vehicle, allowing them to create their own design. Ahead of the second International Bus Day on June 1, Volkswagen has teamed up with Denver-based vehicle wrapping specialist Wrapmate. Thanks to this partnership, users will be able to add artistic touches to their vehicles. Working with a network of more than 2,000 certified installers across the US, Wrapmate will offer ID.Buzz owners the opportunity to personalize their vehicles. Wraps can be ordered through Wrapmate or participating Volkswagen authorized dealers and will be available from June 2. The service will allow drivers to create their own designs and choose from a range of ready-made designs. Among the ready-made designs, Dr. Bob Hieronimus’ “Love the Earth” themed skin stands out. Hieronimus’ design features the phrase “Love the Earth” in 25 different languages, including indigenous languages such as Māori and Navajo. The design conveys a message of global unity and a deeper connection with our planet. Hieronimus was also the designer of the “Light Bus”, which became one of the iconic symbols of the Woodstock Art and Music Festival in 1968.
Volkswagen and Wrapmate Collaboration
Volkswagen has developed a 3D configurator with Wrapmate that allows users to visualize and design their ID.Buzz in real time. This innovative tool enables users to create unique wraps and stickers according to their own tastes. In autumn 2024, customers will be able to order these personalized skins online or through their local VW dealer.
