With electric vehicles becoming increasingly common, the lack of charging infrastructure has become a major factor preventing this new technology from reaching a wider audience. Many potential electric vehicle owners are hesitant because of the difficulty of finding a charging station, especially when they go out of town. This is where the EVIE concept developed by design agency Alloy comes into play in a remarkable way.
ALLOY, which creates completely different results in product design and draws attention with its designs that move away from the classics, also reveals its differences in Electric Car, the popular technology of recent times. However, this time their work is not for an electric vehicle, but for electric vehicle charging stations…
EVIE Electric Vehicle Charging Unit
EVIE transforms traditional street lamps into a modern electric vehicle charging station. Every curbside is now a spot that offers not only lighting, but also charging. This reduces the charging worries that EV owners face in their daily lives, while encouraging more people to adopt electric vehicles.
Apart from the elegance of EVIE’s design, one of the most striking features is the 360° light ring. This ring serves as a beacon for drivers looking for the charging station, while at the same time illuminating the surroundings and increasing safety. Integrated camera systems allow drivers to monitor their vehicles while parked and keep track of the charging process, so users can safely leave their vehicles charging.
Alloy’s EVIE concept aims to expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure by utilizing existing infrastructure. Each EVIE station is designed to charge two vehicles at the same time, allowing more vehicles to be charged in heavily used areas. In addition, smaller stations, such as the EVIE Mini, are designed for use in busy areas such as shopping malls, restaurants or public transportation stops.
EVIE, A Remarkable Charging Station Design from Alloy
This design approach aims to reduce costs by utilizing existing infrastructure rather than building dedicated charging points. Furthermore, EVIE’s integrated payment display and app support allows users to easily track and pay for their charging time.
The EVIE concept offers an innovative approach to accelerate the deployment of electric vehicles and make charging infrastructure more accessible. With local and national governments investing in such solutions, electric vehicle technology is sure to spread to a wider audience.
