Electric vehicles are becoming increasingly important in the automotive world, and Skoda is keeping up with the trend. The brand’s upcoming new model, the Elroq, brings exciting developments in terms of both design and technology.
Expected to be officially unveiled in the fall, the Elroq will be the first vehicle to adopt Skoda’s new “Modern Solid” design philosophy. Camouflaged images of the Elroq have been shared, and it features a Tech-Deck grille inspired by the Vision 7S concept and split LED headlights. The Skoda lettering on the front edge of the bonnet offers a stylish look reminiscent of Range Rovers.

Built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB platform, the Elroq is 4,500 mm long. Its drag coefficient is 0.26, indicating an aerodynamically efficient design.Elroq will be offered with three different battery options. The entry level will have a 55 kWh battery and a 125 kW (170 hp) electric motor, while the mid-level will have a 63 kWh battery and a 150 kW motor. The top-level versions, the 85 and 85x, will use an 82 kWh battery. The 85 model will produce 210 kW of power, while the 85x version will offer a total of 220 kW of power and all-wheel drive with a second engine added to the front axle.Skoda promises a range of up to 560 kilometers for the top versions. All models will support DC fast charging, with the 85 and 85x versions supporting up to 175 kW of charging power. This will allow the battery to charge from 10% to 80% in about 28 minutes.

In terms of safety and comfort, the Elroq will offer Travel Assist driving assistant, remote parking and up to 9 airbags. The interior will feature Skoda’s characteristic “Simply Clever” solutions and plenty of storage space. The trunk volume will reach 470 liters with the seats upright and 1580 liters with the seats reclined.
The Elroq, which is scheduled to go on sale towards the end of the year, is likely to strengthen Skoda’s claim in the electric vehicle segment. With its modern design, various engine and battery options, long range and technological features, Elroq is a candidate to become an important player in the electric SUV market.
