MADNESS Style Art Center by MAD attracts attention with all its beauty. Architecture studio MAD has unveiled the design for the Nanhai Arts Center in Guangdong. Comprising three main buildings: a theater, a museum and a sports center. The complex will be located on the seaside, its form intended to mimic a continuous water wave. Its undulating roof, made of translucent plastic, will connect the open spaces and integrate the different venues. In addition, tree-like columns will be used inside the structure, with visuals emphasizing the use of wood. The design of the Nanhai Art Center aims to be a contemporary cultural venue. Combining environmental aesthetics and functionality to give the area a unique identity.

Nanhai Art Center
MAD presents an undulating design for the Nanhai Arts Center, which will be located on the seafront in Guangdong. This mixed-use center will consist of three parts: theater, museum and sports center, with a total area of 121,275 square meters. The project is conceived as a cultural venue for Guangzhou and Foshan residents and is inspired by traditional Guangdong culture, with a particular focus on social gatherings. The design of the Nanhai Art Center aims to provide ample spaces for these activities. The roof of the center will have a wavy appearance similar to the wide roof eaves reflecting the traditional architecture of the region.

This roof will be covered with a translucent type of plastic called white ETFE. The images show that the roof covering will be supported by wood-like columns.
The plan of the Nanhai Arts Center, organized around a central axis, includes the main buildings, which include the museum and the theater. The theater, called the Grand Theater, will include a 1,500-seat amphitheater and a 600-seat multipurpose hall. On the other side will be the sports center, which will include sports facilities such as swimming pools, basketball and badminton courts.
